Meet Our Team

The Easter Attack Survivors Project (EASP) is a volunteer initiative of the SL Reconciliation Movement (SLRM). Our Mission at SLRM is to spread awareness and encourage communication to develop mutual understanding between the diverse communities in Sri Lanka regarding the significance of co-existence. 

Aamina Muhsin

Co-Founder

Aamina is the Co-Founder of the Easter Attack Survivors Project and a Youth Ambassador of The Global Peace Institute. She is also the creator and narrator of the YouTube Video Series ‘History of the Muslims of Sri Lanka’ –  a project aimed at building harmony between communities in Sri Lanka. She is a Volunteer at a Non-Profit Humanities Organization in Colombo, as well as an Artist, and supplies her art to Global Gifting Markets such as Redbubble and Society6.
 

Seth Ganepola

Co-Founder

Seth is the Co-Founder of the Easter Attack Survivors Project. He is a young volunteer who is set on creating a peaceful atmosphere in Sri Lanka where all communities will be able to co-exist in harmony. He is currently working as a researcher and is converging all his efforts on finding innovative means of expanding reconciliation in the island. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from University of London and is currently studying for another Bachelor of Arts at University of Colombo. Apart from his reconciliation efforts, he is also quite passionate about volunteering. He has worked with the UNV and has supported its efforts in creating a National Volunteering Secretariat in Sri Lanka.

Lughadarini Yogaraja

Co-Lead

Lughadarini Yogaraja is a Co-Lead of the Easter Attack Survivors Project. She has completed her Diploma in International Relations and Advanced Diploma in Transitional Justice from the Bandaranaike Center for International Studies (BCIS) Sri Lanka. She is Currently Working as a Research Assistant Intern for the Institute of National Security Studies. The main reason she chose to work in this path is because it is very challenging and Interesting Her keen interests are in Geopolitics, Culture, Arts, History, Literature. She is also actively engaged towards volunteering and working to create a Positive change in our society. By joining the EASP team as a volunteer she hopes to reach out and help the survivors and ensure their stories are being heard.

Prof. Rohan Gunaratna

Advisor

Professor Rohan Gunaratna is a specialist in national security with expertise in counter terrorism. He is a Honorary Professor at the Sir John Kotalawala Defence University and Senior Advisor to its Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka, he has served as consultant to both the HQ of the Joint Operations Command and the Ministry of Defence, and he wrote the blue print for establishing the Ministry of Defence think tank, INSSSL.
The author of 20 books, he served as an instructor and an advisor to the NYPD Intelligence Division and a consultant to Detainee Task Force 134 in Iraq and Joint Task Force (JTF) 435 in Afghanistan. He received his Masters from the University of Notre Dame in the US where he was Hesburgh Scholar and his doctorate from the University of St Andrews in the UK where he was British Chevening Scholar.

For advancing international intelligence cooperation, Gunaratna received the Major General Ralph H. Van Deman Award.

Aaditha Edirisinghe

Director of finance

Aaditha Edirisinghe is serving the Easter Attack Survivors Project as its valuable Director of Finance. 

Throughout his schooling career, Aaditha has been involved in a wide range of extracurricular activities which sparked a keen interest in volunteerism. Apart from executing his duties as the Director of Finance at EASP, he currently serves as the Director of Finance for Hype Sri Lanka, which is the country’s first youth empowerment incubator. He is also the Co-convener of “Townhall Dialogues”, which is a project aimed at encouraging constructive and civil discussion of opposing opinions with the aim of arriving at a common consensus. Along with all of his volunteering he is also a final year student following a degree in Economics and Management by the University of London. His interests and passions span over a wide range, including everything from Sri Lankan culture, art, history, music and dance to geopolitics, world history, economics and philosophy.

Shihara Ferdinando

Head of Social Media Communications

Shihara is serving the Easter Attack Survivors Project as its valuable Social Media Communications Specialist. 

Shihara is presently an undergraduate at the Arts faculty of the University of Colombo where she hopes to pursue a career in environmental law and management. In addition, she teaches secondary school-goers while interning. As a strong believer in creating positive change in her community, she also dedicates her time to volunteering in varying capacities with several organizations. She proudly serves as a volunteer for the Easter Attack Survivors Project.

Aamilah Abdurrahim

Head of Design

Aamilah is the Head of Design at Easter Attack Survivors Project. Graduating from the Academy of Multimedia Design Technology (AMDT) with a BTEC Higher National Diploma in creative media production, majoring in film. Currently working as a freelance graphic designer and videographer, she is an avid lover of wildlife & environmental conservation and dedicates most of her time to exploring different ways on how to both educate but also entertain people on ecological subjects that they may not know a lot about.

Abdullah Ibrahim

Coordinator

Abdullah Ibrahim is an International Relations Academic hailing from a Malay family in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is an Associate Fellow at the Global Peace Institute UK. He completed his studies at the Bandaranaike Center for International Studies and is pursuing his postgraduate diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership. He has been awarded immensely for his excellent performances in his schooling career. And he founded the Hate Speech Monitor, a hate reporting network in Sri Lanka for the first time in 2019 post Easter Attacks. His interests revolve around global security covering topics like terrorism, peace and conflict and religious harmony and inter-faith peace.

Dinuka Perera

Dinuka Piumal Perera is pursuing his education in the field of Psychology, and has completed his Bachelor of Philosophy at the National Seminary of Our Lady of Lanka. He is a seminarian who is aspiring to be a Priest in the Archdiocese of Colombo. He has served as Vice President of the Chesterton English Academy at the National Seminary and Member of the National Seminary Choir. He is a team worker, always willing to work for the common good, and considers it a great honour to work hand-in-hand with the Easter Attack Survivors Team.

Roma Vedamuttu

Roma is serving the Easter Attack Survivors Project as a valuable advisor and contributor. 

She holds a Masters in Law from the University of Law Bloomsbury London, UK and a Bachelors in Law (Honours) from the University of London as well as a Diploma in Forensic and Criminal Psychology from the UK. Passionate about being the voice for the voiceless she is a social activist for women and child rights and speaks fearlessly about breaking the taboo surrounding rape culture and works voluntarily to support the victims of rape and sexual abuse. Currently studying for her Attorneys at Law, Roma works for both a BPO US Law Firm and a senior corporate lawyer in Sri Lanka.

Nahdiya Nasoordeen

Nahdiya is serving the Easter Attack Survivors Project as a valuable advisor and contributor. 

Nahdiya Nasoordeen Danish is a co-founder and director of OGP Solutions (PVT) Ltd. She is an Attorney-at-Law and a visiting lecturer at various private institutions. She also holds a Master of Human Rights and Democratization from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London. 

Sherwan Buckman

Sherwan is serving the Easter Attack Survivors Project as a valuable tech consultant and contributor.

Sherwan Buckman is a senior technology professional with a Bsc.in Information Systems from Manchester Metropolitan University UK. He specializes in eGovernment and Aviation verticals and consults on both private and government sector projects in Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

Tassy Dahlan

Tassy is serving the Easter Attack Survivors Project as a valuable Content Overseer and contributor. 

Thasneema Dahlan, known to everyone as Tassy, is a Teacher by profession and a Social Activist for a variety of causes. She has lived overseas for a major part of her life, most of which was in Africa. She strongly believes respect, tolerance and being open minded to others’ views will bring about a peaceful coexistence for all.

Erandi Dinusha

Erandi Dinusha is serving The Easter Attack Survivors Project as our valuable Head of Sinhala Language Translations and Contributor.

Erandi is a professional in the Business field and a passionate individual in Women Empowerment. She is currently working as a Manager at CSR Lanka and overseeing many projects in sustainability, entrepreneurship and helping women SME’s. Erandi has over 10 years of experience in the Business Management field and during this period she had exposure in Managing Projects in Business Councils, Trade Associations, Multinational Agencies, Civil Societies and NGOs. She is the Founder and the Chairperson of the “Sri Lanka Association of Professionals (SLAP)” and helping many young professionals to improve themselves. Erandi is also the Secretary of the “AGORA Speakers Colombo” club. She is volunteering in many projects related to various sectors and her goal is to improve the moral and positive thinking in people of the Sri Lankan society.

Shaheer Ahamed

Shaheer Ahamed is serving The Easter Attack Survivors Project as our valuable Head of Tamil Language Translations and Contributor.

Shaheer Ahamed is from Matale, and is following his HND in Electrical Technology at University College of Rathmalana. he is also following his Diploma in English at The University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He also works as the Matale District Coordinator for Sri Lanka Unites. Additionally, he is a freelance translator, volunteer, announcer and a social activist who is having a goal of building a better Sri Lanka.

Sanjeeva Lokuge

Sanjeeva is an IT professional currently employed at a Private University, as its Senior IT Manager. His passion is to help underprivileged kids, especially in their education. Currently, he is funding a kid in Pooneryn and another in Badulla. Though born as a Sinhala Buddhist, he considers his race as ‘human’ and religion as ‘love’.

Adnaan Sabireen

A writer by profession with over a decade of experience in the advertising industry, Adnaan is also a freelance Compere. He is devastated by the absolute senselessness of the Easter Attacks and is looking forward to helping the victims, using his skills and contributing his time.

Zarka Nathakain

Zarka Nathakain is currently following Human Resource Management Law at University of Colombo. She serves as a Volunteer for projects of many local and international organizations, and has dedicated her services as a teacher, an assistant translator (Sinhala, Tamil, English), a data entry clerk, an account manager, an administrative assistant and a management assistant. Her motto is, “Treat others the way you want to be treated…”

Rehana Rahim

Rehana is serving as a valuable translator and contributor to the Easter Attack Survivors Project. She is a former student of Muslim Ladies College Colombo, and comes from a Sri Lankan Malay background. She is a TEFL qualified teacher currently working at an International School. She has formally served as a Senior Manager for a Multinational Pharmaceutical Company. And is currently studying Child Psychology and has the ability to converse in Sinhala, English, Tamil and Malay.

Vithya Nadaraja

Vithya is an experienced Customer Relationship Management Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the telecommunications industry.  She holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Anglia Ruskin UK. It is indeed a great pleasure to work with the Easter Attack Survivors Project Team.  

Deshani Samaragunarathna

Deshani Samaragunarathna is a strategic studies and international relations undergraduate at the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. She received honorary mentions at 32.0 International Model United Conference . As a multi lingual ( Sinhala , Tamil , English and French) and a Toastmaster, her main strength is strategic communication. Moreover she works to create a better picture about her motherland to the international community by building religious and ethnic harmony. 

Gloriya George

I am Gloriya George currently following a Bachelor of Commerce double major degree in Management and International Business at ACBT under the Edith Cowan University of Australia. 

I am a victim of the Easter attack. I was at St. Antony’s Shrine Kochikade along with my younger sister Shopiya George and my Dada George Chandrasekaran. I lost my loving dada on that fateful day. We both got injured in our ears. It was not easy for me to accept this and get back to normal, but yet I came up with that by facing many challenges and now I would like to join the EASP team as a volunteer where I can do something for the survivors in whatever way I can.

Rashane Pintoe

Rashane is an undergraduate at Victoria University and Girne American University, reading for Bachelors degrees in Financial Risk Management and International Relations. He is the Vice Secretary at the Sri Lankan chapter of the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) and the Co-Founder of the university chapter of the same organisation at the National School of Business Management (NSBM).

Rashane is an experienced chess player having constantly played at national chess tournaments. Rashane is also the United Nations Student Ambassador Coordinator for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, where he leads a team of 17 Ambassadors to make an impact in society on various projects and implementations. He is also a political enthusiast, who writes articles for multiple local newspapers on topics relating to terrorism, peace and the status quo of the political attributes in both Sri Lankan and foreign aspects.

Savithri Sellapperumage

Savithri Sellapperumage is an International Relations Academic and a Researcher. She is currently employed as an Assistant Lecturer at University of Colombo. She is an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of National Security Studies, Sri Lanka. Her interests are Peace and Co-existence, Environmental Governance and South Asian Geopolitics.

Sithara Jayakody

Sithara Jayakody is following an Honors Degree in International Relations at the University Of Colombo. Currently, she is working as a Research Intern for the Institute of National Security Studies Sri Lanka. As her subsidiary subjects she has studied Political Science, Public Policy and Sociology. She has also completed a course on Preventing Violent Extremism at the Centre for Equality and Justice; and is the daughter of a War Hero from the Sri Lankan Army. Sithara considers this project to be a good opportunity to make a significant contribution to build a Violence Free Sri Lanka.
